Basque Museum is situated at Plaza Unamuno, 4. It remains open on Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 to 17:00 and on Sundays from 11:00 to 14:00. It is closed on Mondays and public holidays.
Established in 1921, the museum showcases archaeology, pre-history and ethnography of the Basque county. Basque county essentially refers to the cultural-space which crosses the borders of current-day autonomous community.
The permanent collection in the museum depicts varied topics related with Vizcaya like fishing and trade, handicraft textile, pre-history, fishing and trade, handcraft textiles, weapons, pastoral life, pottery and furniture.
The museum also has archives of oral-history, tapes/record collection, several photographs and artifacts, a library, manuscript materials. The museum also maintains an online store which has an extensive merchandise collection.
There are also classes for learning the Basque language, euskara.
