Casco Viejo is the medieval neighborhood which is known as the most colorful part of Bilbao. This is a maze of narrow streets which are full of taverns, monuments and shops. Some of the attractions include the Plaza Nueva, La Ribera Market, the Teatro Arriaga opera house and the Casco Viejo, the Zamudio Gate. This is an old pleasant neighborhood known for open air food markets, where the shoppers can buy some of the freshest fruits and vegetables in Europe. This historic walking area is simply perfect for shopping and dining with family and friends. Casco Viejo is also a maze of winding pedestrian streets.
