The city of Cádiz is home to some of Spain’s most beautiful beaches. The La Playa de la Caleta is one of the most popular beaches and has found mention in many songs and movies due to its sheer beauty.
Cádiz is also known for its scenic historical landmarks. The magnificent Cádiz Cathedral was built over a period of 116 years and is a unique building that contains elements of baroque, rococo and neoclassical architecture. The majestic Gran Teatro Falla is a beautifully restored theatre that dates back to 1871.
Cádiz was also famed for its impenetrability in ancient times because of the stone walls that surrounded the city. Although not much of these walls remain, the ruins are still a major tourist attraction. The Tavira tower is the tallest remaining watch tower in the city and provides an excellent view of the sea.
The Carnival of Cádiz is one of the best known carnivals in the world. It is a splendid display of colours, sounds and celebrations.
