Tourist Guide Gomera
Amongst the Canary Islands, the second smallest island is the Gomera. It is located about 30 KMS towards the west of Tenerife. The island comprises of bare cliffs having a height of about 900 meters. One can find deep gorges called as barrancos which widen in the lower reaches, in the interiors of the Island.
The climate in Gomera is differentiated into the Northern climate which is humid and fairly stable and the Southern climate where the temperature is higher than the north.
The total population of Gomera is approximately 20,000. The people of Gomera have a unique and distinct culture.
They have preserved “Silbo” which is a type of communication specific to these islands. This is a whistled speech used to send messages across large distances.
Cheese and wine form an important part of their diet.
