In the Garajonay National Park, fog completely envelops the central peaks; One also comes across a rain forest,  unbelievably green and luscious . This landscape at the higher altitudes is completely different from the dry coastal lower regions. “Laurisilva” is the most famous vegetable in this region. Also, one can find many arboreal varieties, the leaves of which are identical to the laurel tree. Scientists from all parts of the world are attracted towards the Canarian Laural forests and a few animals and plant species found here cannot be found anywhere else on the earth.

Hermigua

Hermigua is a spectacular trek, which is very steep.  During the trek, one can have stunning views of the valley, of the Agulo village and of the Teide Mountain.  The path of this trek first reaches the top of the mountain where one can stop at the National Park’s Visitors Center and further move on to Agulo Village and then reach Hermigua. The Visitors Center has a restaurant and bar. Here, the tourists are offered comprehensive geographical and cultural information which is presented in an enticing and useful manner.  At the top of the trek, the grounds have a strange red color, identical to that of the Moon.
