Las Palmas
Las Palmas is the capital of the Grand Canary. Here, it is possible to view excellent historic Canarian architecture, several famous art galleries and museums, cafes and chic restaurants. Santa Catalina is an impressive beach where one can find great shops and many bars. The traffic in this city is heavy and hence one takes time to move around the city. There are several huge car parks.
Playa del Ingles
The largest resort in Grand Canary is called as Playa del Ingles where the crowd is gay. Here, watersports like beach fun rides and windsurfing are practiced. There is a golden sandy long beach and also some sand dunes. One can also find several bars, restaurants and commercial shopping centers. At the border of the dunes there is a huge golf course. One comes across a large aqua waterpark between Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles. Visitors can move around the resort by means of a miniature train.
Maspalomas
Maspalomas is an established resort on the island which is a quieter place as compared to Playa del Ingles. These two resorts are separated by the Maspalomas sand dunes, which is regarded as an iconic natural phenomenon of Grand Canary. These dunes are famous as a cruising spot and a nudist sunbathing spot. It is possible to take a camel ride across these dunes to get a feeling that one is in a desert.
