The port city of Santander is situated on the northern coast of Spain. It is the capital of the autonomous community of Cantabria.
This wonderful city is located in the Cantabrian coast, with the bay to the south and the Cantabrian Sea to the north. Santander is renowned for its mild and humid climate. Average temperatures in summer do not go above 30°C, and in winters, they do not drop below 4°C.
Santander has a population of approximately 180,000. A large part of the population of the Cantabria region resides in this city.
Santander has had a long and glorious past since the Roman times and was even the summer getaway of the Spanish King Alfonso XIII. The culture of this beautiful city reflects the heritage of the many civilizations that have flourished here.
