Tourist Guide Tarragona
Tarragona, a city in the south of Catalonia, is located in the east of Spain along the Mediterranean Sea. Located about 100 km south of Barcelona, the city is home to some of the ancient Roman monuments and historic structures. With a population of around 128,000 inhabitants, Tarragona is an ideal tourist paradise.
The city has an ideal Mediterranean climate, characterised by bright, sunny days with relatively low rainfall and mild winters. Summer and spring are the tourist seasons and the best time to visit the city.
Initially known as Taracco, the city was the capital of the province of Hispanic Tarraconensis. Today, the city houses a number of important Roman remains and monuments and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
