Owing to its rich history and culture, Tarragona offers several tourist attractions. It is home to some of the best Roman architectural works including the Roman Amphitheatre. The city is home to the Museum of Archaeology and the Roman Ruins of Tarraco, a World Heritage Site.
The Cathedral, situated at the uppermost point of the city, is a must-see. Founded by Cistercian monks during the twelfth century, the Monastery of Poblet is another spectacular site. Costa Daurada is known for its beautiful beaches and exotic resorts. Some of the most popular beaches include the Arabassada Beach, Cola Crancs Beach and Playa Larga Beach which is popularly known as ‘Long Beach’.
Some of the most important events in Tarragona are the Carnival and the Santa Tecla Festival, celebrated throughout the city.
