Tourist Guide Tossa de Mar
Tossa de Mar can be described as one of the holiday resorts situated along Costa Brava in Catalonia; at the distance of around 103 Km on the northern side of Barcelona. Also, it lies at the distance of 100 Km on the southern side of French border.
Tossa de Mar is easily accessible via Girona Airport, at certain distance towards the north.
Contrary to a well-known belief that ‘Tossa de Mar’ has conventionally been a major fishing town, local economy during medieval period and till advent of tourism was based on ‘agricultural production’; cork and Grape vine, in particular. The latter one had a huge market at the time of eighteenth and nineteenth century.
Fishing has conventionally been looked upon as a comparatively minor contributor towards economy of Tossa de Mar. A petite fishing industry still operates on an active basis. Moreover, it happens to occupy certain members of ‘local fishing families’
