If street food meaning buying something and eating it on the go there are branches of Museo de Jamon where you can buy sandwiches and host of things, like for instance Maoz falafels that are very good or tons of bakeries that have empanadas and tortas, "to go" sandwich places all over the city. You won't have any problem running into them!A special is ,around Plaza Major, calamares sandwiches from the little take-outs,or, otherwise, there are tons of little bars and restaurants that fill this need... You will find also meat products in the city's streets such as lomo (fine cured pork), chorizo (spicy sausage), salamis, and morcilla (black pudding) as well as seafood whose qualty is very high also compared to the more coastal locations of Spain! Definetely worth to try! The newly renovated San Miguel Food Market, an old wrought iron building just off Calle Mayor, should not be missed by anyone wants to discover the delicacies of Spain. Here you will find food from all over Spain and it's all excellent quality. You can hop between the stalls and buy a delicious tapa for around 1-2€, so it's also a good place for a cheap lunch. If you fancy something a little less touristy and more local, try the Mercado de Maravillas, a typical Madrid suburb!
