Most of the trains depart from Atocha and includes services to the south and east and some northern routes. The trains to the north leave from Chamartin. The Atocha station is a modern facility having a large atrium with palm trees bordered by offices. One can find entrance to the train bays on one end of the atrium. Talgos are the fastest trains which stop at the major cities and Rapidos are the regular daytime long distance inter-regional trains.
