Casa Museo Lope de Vega is situated at Calle de Cevantes in Madrid – 28014 in Spain and is open from 9.30 to 2 pm daily except on Sundays and is closed in the month of August.
The museum is housed in a 17th century building where the writer ‘Lope de Vega’, spend the last 25 years of his life. This ‘golden age’ playwright is known to have written several plays, novels and poetry since the age of twelve.
The museum is worth visiting for its reconstruction of life in the 17th century in Madrid and its beautiful gardens.
The famous writer lived in the house from 1610 to 1635 and became a priest after the death of his second wife despite his philandering nature.
Do visit this renovated house with its heavy wooden shutters, beamed ceilings and creaking staircases to view the study room of the author where he wrote his many plays and the embroidery room with heavy wall hangings.
