National Museum Queen Sofia is an art museum situated at Santa Isabel, 52 Madrid 28012 in Spain and is open from 10 to 9 daily except on Tuesday and on Sunday from 10 to 2.30 pm.
This museum is of now one of the largest contemporary art museums in the world and a must to be visited by all those of you who love modern art. The older part of the museum has 4 floors while the newer section consists of 6 floors.
The old Sabatini building has temporary exhibitions on the 1st floor and permanent collections on the other two floors which are open to the public.
The highlights included on the 4th floor include the Eduardo Chillida, Antonio Saura and Antoni Tapies rooms. In 2005 the museum underwent an expansion making the permanent collection of the museum more than fifty percent.
This covered a total area of 3 new buildings set around the central plaza.
