Toledo is one of the most spectacular cities in the world. The city has a long tradition of catering for tourists and has an ample selection of hotels, restaurants, bars and souvenir shops.
The old city is one of the most fascinating parts of Toledo with many historical buildings, narrow winding streets and the Tagus River running alongside. Walking through its streets makes you feel as if you have been transported back into the Middle Ages.
The Cathedral is the centrepiece of Toledo. This magnificent structure sits atop a hill and features an art gallery with works by Raphael, Rubens, Goya, Titian and El Greco. The Alcázar is a massive fortress that has been home to the Romans, Visigoths, Arabs and Christians. The Puerta Bisagra is the main entrance to the city. It is a fine example of the confluence of Moorish and Christian architecture.
The Corpus Christi celebrations in Toledo are famous all over Spain. Many local fiestas are held in August.
