Surface: Spain has a total land area of 499,542 sq km.

Population:  Spain has a population of 40,448,200 (July 2007) which is a combination of Mediterranean and Nordic races.

Climate: Spain has a temperate climate in the interiors, with clear hot summers and cold winters, while it is more moderate on the coast.

Units of measure and electricity: Spain follows the metric system of measurement; the official electricity unit is 230 V, 50 Hz.

Time Zone: The standard time zone for Spain is GMT + 1 (GMT + 2 in summers).

Currency: Euro (1 € = 1.35 USD)

Travel documents required: Tourists from EU require a valid passport or ID card while those from other countries require a tourist visa.
Economy

Spain has a mixed economy and is the fifth largest in Europe. It is plagued by issues such as high inflation, large underground economy and low productivity. But, it has successfully avoided the virtual zero growth rate and has created more than half of the new jobs for EU. Spanish tourism industry has grown to become the second largest in the world.

Spain is one of the less expensive countries; it is possible to survive easily in just 30 €. An average meal would cost 8 € to 12 €.
