The public transport in the city of Stockholm is run by the Storstockholms Lokaltrafik and the traffic in the city is increasing at an alarming rate with more than 270,000 private cars used within the city.
A congestion tax has been introduced in the city with an intention to reduce congestion and improve the overall traffic flow.
The city has three regional rail services, a number of bus lines and regular ferry services to Aland Island, Turku and Helsinki, Estonia, Latvia, Tallinn and Riga.
The Stockholm Central station provides train services to many towns in Sweden and to Copenhagen and Oslo. SL has a common ticket system in the county which makes it easy to travel using different modes of transport.
