Kungliga Operan

Let's face it, everyone needs a bit more culture.  But you didn't bring your tuxedo??  No problem, Stockholm's Kungliga Operan doesn't have a dress code (though it's always more fun to dress up).

Home to the Royal Swedish Opera and Royal Swedish Ballet — both started in the 1770s — the building stages events from late August through mid-June.

Unfortunately, the performances' offseason coincides with peak summertime tourist season.  Never fear, Kungliga Operan offers guided tours most summer Wednesdays through Sundays at 1 p.m. for 100 kroner.   After all, summertime's too hot for a tux, anyway!
