If the treasures at the Moderna Museet and Nordic Museum just aren't old enough for you, Stockholm's Historical Museum has what you're looking for.
Reaching back as far as the archaeological record will let it, the Historical Museum spans thousand of years of Swedish history, starting with the Stone Age. Here, you can get your fill of Viking lore, separating fact from fiction and even see the softer side of the feared raiders.
Don't worry, there are plenty of weapons on display, too!
Check out all the swag the Vikings and others 'acquired' in the Gold Room, which contains 52 kilograms of gold and over 200 of silver. Just remember to the warning of the room's 11th-century rune warning what happens to the greedy!
