Nationalmuseum is the national gallery of arts located in capital city of Sweden, Stockholm. It lies at the Södra Blasieholmshamnen area in Stockholm. This museum holds a spectacular collection of paintings and other artwork.
This museum has been benefited by Carl Gustaf Tessin and King Gustav III. It was established in the year 1792 and was known as the Konglig Museum, which means the Royal Museum. The current building of the museum was built in 1866.
Friedrich August Stüler, a German architect designed this structure. It was renamed as Nationalmuseum, which means National Museum. Visitors can see a huge collection of drawings and painting which belong to various periods.
Some of them date back to the middle ages, while some of them are from the 18th and 19th century. Besides the drawings and paintings, tourists can also see modern art, sculptures and porcelain items.
The museum has opened an art library, where visitors can read through the referral material.
The opening hours for the museum are from 11am-5pm on Wednesday to Sunday and from 11am-5pm on Tuesday. It's closed on Monday.
