High on a hilltop in the district of Kungsholmen in Stockholm sits Kronoberg Park, a popular spot for taking in the beauty of nature. While the birdwatching is good, the park's best sight, a potenitally stunning view of Lake Malaren, has been obscured by a firehouse since the 1930s.
The photo opportunities within the park are still plentiful, though, on the 40-meter-high hill, with a nursery in the northeast corner of the park and a haunting Jewish cemetery on the west side.
Since 1979, the park has been home to Barbro Liljander's stainless steel sculpture of a modern Icarus with a hanglider preparing to leap from the hill toward the cliffs below.
