Hjorthagen

The term "end of the line" conjures up images of desolation and fright, especially when paired with the name Little Darkness.  But few things in Stockholm are as vibrant as Hjorthagen (Deer Park to us non-Swedes).

Construction is starting this spring on a development that will bring about 15,000 new residents to Hjorthagen, situated at the end of the Tbana's Northern Line in northeast Stockholm, next to Little Darkness bay.  The plan is for a beacon of sustainable living, complete with urban wetlands; energy-efficient buildings; waste conversion; and clean public transport.  The project should be finished by 2025, and if you want to do more than visit, some residences should be inhabitable by 2012.
