Emerging from its hardscrabble roots, the Sodermalm district of Stockholm has become a mecca for chic young Swedes. An industrial center up until the last century, Sodermalm now churns out an altogether different product: boutiques and bohemians. Located just south of Stockholm's Old Town, the district is trendy enough for its neighborhoods to be a playground for the characters of Stieg Larsson's Millenium Trilogy and have abbreviated nicknames for its neighborhoods. If you want, you can look just like Lisbeth Salander after scouring the shops of SoFo — the area south of Folkungagatan. Or, if you want to see art instead of be it, check out the galleries on Horngatspuckeln.
