Chur is situated as a capital of the Swiss canton of Graubunden. The city’s western part is modern and the eastern part is home to all the historical buildings. In the eastern part of the city is situated Cathedral Church St Luzius.
The places worth visiting in Chur are Bishops palace, Episcopal Seminary, which is built over the monastic foundation’s ruins of 6th century, the new Raetian Museum, containing a great collection of Raetia relating objects including geological collections of the Benedictine monk of Disentis Abbey and Placidus a Spescha known for exploring the high snowy regions around the sources of the Rhine. Museums such as Art Museum, Natural history Museum, the Ratisches Museum and the Dommuseum are also worth a look.
While visiting Chur, tourists can enjoy witnessing the buildings that are being listed as Swiss heritage sites of national significance. There are two archeological sites in Chur, the old medieval city and Welschdorfli, a roman Vicus.
One can relish the spectacular scenery along with snow capped mountains or savor shopping at modern shopping centers in Chur. However, come to Chur to really enjoy the amazing alpine landscape and sporting or outdoor activities this beautiful place offers.
