The Kirchner Museum was created to show the visitors the art of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, a German expressionist painter. This museum has four double height volumes which are connected by a lower volume. Krichner’s work is known as a groundbreaking achievement of German Expressionism. This museum opened in 1992 and is also the home to some of the largest collections of the artist’s work in the world. The building itself is designed by the Zurich architects, Mike Guyer and Annette Gigon.
