Vacations Fribourg - Switzerland

Set on the swiss plateau and at the foot of the Alps, Fribourg is a farming and agricultural area, wordly known for its cattle and cheese, or gruyère as it is commonly called.

Of german origins, with over 80,000 people and Capital of the omonymous canton , Fribourg stands on the banks of the river Saane in the district of Sarine, Switzerland.

German and french are the two languages spoken by its inhabitants.

For their children, families can choose whether french or german schools, until university, where the students are expected a good knowledge of them both. It is interesting to know that it is an episcopal residence and has several churches and monasteries, among which stands Saint Nicholas Cathedral. Chocolate and watches are mainly produced here.

It can be defined an elegant university town with a charmig, mysterious castle and a Cathedral of extraordinary beauty and architectural perfection.

The town can be properly defined a swiss pearl with its narrow, winding, cobbled streets, tabards and specialized shops, nice bridges, a centre whose tendency to growing modernism joins perfectly with the antique, romantic character of some of its areas.
