The Rath Museum also known as Musée Rath is situated at CH-1204 in Geneva and is open from 10 to 5 daily except on Monday and Wednesday. This is the 1st museum in Switzerland which is dedicated to fine arts and was inaugurated in 1826.

The museum displays both international as well as local art. The museum was built as a gift to the people of Geneva by 2 sisters namely Henriette Rath and Jeanne-Francoise and embodies both Italian as well as French styles.

The museum has housed over sixty single artist and theme exhibitions with special emphasis on modern art on one hand and ancient archeological art on the other.

There are displays of masterpieces of printing, illuminated manuscripts and literary manuscripts found in the museum.

The museum was viewed as a ‘Temple of the Muses’ and the highlights of the museum include work of modern art such as the ‘Bram van Velde’ and ‘Markus Raetz’ and also ancient archeological art such as ‘Treasures of Islam
