It is obvious that the tourist industry and the banks in Lausanne have many things in common. Most of the banks are open from Monday to Friday. The banks operate from 8.30 in the morning till noon and from 1.30pm till 4.30 pm. The usual credit cards are acceptable while a VAT of 7.6%25 is included in all the prices that are displayed on the items.
The Swiss Franc is the local currency and currency exchange can be transacted at banks or railway station exchange offices.
The city, which is home to the Béjart Ballet is known for its varied culture as well. Prix de Lausanne is a dance competition held over a week at the Théâtre de Beaulieu. This event, held in the month of January, attracts reputed dancers from across the globe.
Festival de la Cité, Lausanne Underground Film and Music Festival, Bach Festival and Nuit de Musées are a only few other festivals enjoyed by the tourists. Lausanne is also known for the varied sporting activities held. Water sports are available on the nearby lakes and mountaineering regions.
