Tourist Guide Locarno
Locarno is located in the southern part of Switzerland close to the Italian border. This town of approximately 15,000 inhabitants is the most popular resort town along the Lake Maggiore.
The region falls in the Alpine region and the city and the lake are nestled in a lush green valley.
Locarno enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate which makes it hospitable almost all through the year. The average temperature in the summers is a pleasant 20°C. At the peak of winters, the temperature averages at 3°C
Locarno has been a peaceful resort for most of its history. It shot to international fame when leaders from all over the world converged here to sign pacts after World War I. These pacts were collectively known as the Locarno Treaties.
