Tourist Guide Neuchâtel
Neuchâtel is located in the western part of Switzerland very close to the French border. Owing to its location, this town of approximately 31,500 inhabitants is largely influenced by French culture, cuisine and architecture.
The town is nestled between a lake with the same name and the Jura Mountains. The region is covered with vineyards.
Neuchâtel enjoys a temperate climate. The area around the lake is warmer than the surrounding mountains. The town does not see much snow during winters, but the snow covered mountains are ideal for skiing. Average summertime temperatures are 18°C.
Neuchâtel started off as a Roman settlement and still carries the ambience of a quaint lakeside village. It is also popular with students from all over Europe.
