Saas-Fee, a village in Saas Valley, is located in Switzerland. Situated in the district of Visp, it is surrounded by the villages of Saas-Almagell, Saas-Grund and Saas-Balen. With a population of around 1,700, Saas-Fee is popularly known as the ‘Pearl of the Alps’.
The valley of Saas-Fee has a dry and balanced climate, characterised by cold winters and warm summers, with very little fog. The valley enjoys more than three hundred days of sunshine every year.
The inhabitants of Saas-Fee give primary importance to their culture and tradition. Some of the important cultural elements are dance and music. The traditional dress worn by the natives, decorated with exotic embroidery, and a traditional hat, known as ‘Kreshut’, is worn during special occasions.
Tourism is an important money-earning industry in Saas-Fee.
