Piz Bernina is the highest mountain in the Engadina region and is named after the Bernina Pass, which was had been named by Johann Coaz in the year 1850. Piz Bernina rocks comprises of gabbros and diorites. The first ever climber was Johann Coaz, who climbed the peak along with his assistants, Jon and Lorenz Ragut Tscharner in 1850. This highest peak is located in the south of Rhetic Alps and is 20 kilometers long from east to west and 10 kilometers large from north to south. There are also resorts of St. Mortiz and Pontresina near the peak.
