The Opera House of Zurich, built in 1891, has a seating capacity of eleven hundred people.
It is one of the most frequenetd theatres in the world and shows three hundred opera and ballet performances, songs recitals and concerts of excellent performers and artists each year.
Also known as Opernhaus Zurich, it is the city’s main theatre holding musical events, dance and drama performances and opera shows.
The theatre is an elaboratly designed building made in the rococo style of grey and white stone decorated with paintings of Mozart, Weber and Wagner.
One can take a tour of the house and visit the props department, the auditorium and the entrance foyer.
The opera house in Zurich also trains upcoming artists and professionals and the important academies which provide training are the Orchestra academy and the Junior Ballet which promote young and talented artists.
