The sea caves are what attracted the first visitors to the city less than 50 years ago. The warm temperature and high humidity in the caves was believed to be beneficial to health. The Damlatas Cave, also known as the Cape of the Dripping Stones, is one of the caves which can be accessed by foot. The Cleopatra Beach and the Keykubat Beach are other popular attractions.
The Alanya fortress, perched upon a steep headland, is like an open air museum. It contains within its walls an ethnographic museum, mosques and a red stone citadel decorated with beautiful murals and paintings.
The Alanya Museum displays findings during archaeological digs which reflect the various eras of the town’s history. The Alanya Market boasts of shops and stalls selling a range of goods from jewellery to leather articles.
