Ankara: Attractions and more...
In Ankara are many significative attractions not to be missed: Hisar east of the old town is a typical bizantine citadel; the Mausoleum of Atatürk reminiscent of Anatolian times.
Main attraction is the old town or Ulus with its typical hilly, winding, streets.
Kale, the fortress, is in the old town.
Here and there are some remains reminiscent of Roman times.
Not to be missed is the Museum of Anatolian Civilisation, not far from the Çengelhan Rahmi M. Koç Museum just opposite the entrance to the citadel, a show off of engineering, road transport, scientific instruments, maritime, medicine and much more.
In the courtyard is the workshop where Mr Vehbi Koç, founder of the Koç Group, widened his professional horizon.
No doubt, the best places where enjoy some relax are the Divan Cafe or the Divan Brasserie in the same area.
At night, many are the bars, cafeterias and clubs in whose open spaces is really enjoyable to have a drink or something to eat in a warm and friendly atmosphere!
Ankara is an important cultural centre too with its symphony orchestras and
theatres!
