Bursa: Attractions and more...

While at Bursa, visit the ‘Yesil Turbe’ (Green Mausoleum) and the T-shaped ‘Yesil Cami’ (Green Mosque), famous for the Turkish and Islamic style art works. There are also the replicas of the tombs of the earliest Ottoman sultans, built in 1860, after the original structures were destroyed in the 1855 Bursa earthquake. Also, the Ulu Camii mosque which was built in 1399—with 20 domes arranged in a 4 x 5 quadrilateral style, a large central water fountain and a glass dome over it—is considered by some Muslims as a holy place.

The mountain of Uludag, famous for its ski resorts, is a popular winter sports destination. Bursa is also the home of some famous Turkish delicacies like İskender kebap and chestnut candy. Also, do not forget to shop at the Silk Bazaar, which was once part of the famed Silk Route.

The International Bursa Festival (June–July) and the International Bursa Silk Road Film Festival (December) are some of the annual events held here.
