Things to Do in Pamukkale: attractions to See in Pamukkale

Pamukkale: Attractions and more...

A dip in the Sacred Pool of Pamukkale is a must for all visitors. It is the place where most hot springs start and a swim here has been known to be described as bathing in bubbly champagne.

Hierapolis—the ancient city which served as a spa to kings and other royals—used to stand here; now, only the ruins remain but they are worth a visit. One of the most impressive sites is the Necropolis—an ancient burial ground—dotted with various structures to commemorate the dead. The ruined basilica of Martyrium of St. Philip and the Temple of Apollo are also found here. Roman baths and basilicas one in the Christian style and other in the Byzantine are other spots of interest.

The ancient theatre is one of the best of its kinds in Turkey with a capacity to seat more than 15,000; it houses several relics and sculptures. The Festival of Pamukkale is organised annually at the end of spring.
