Tourist Guide Bursa
The city of Bursa in north-western Turkey is the governmental centre of the Bursa Province. Located 63 miles south-east of Istanbul, Bursa was the first capital of the Ottoman Empire in 1326.
Located at the foot of the mountain of Uludag, this city is surrounded by hills and farmland with sufficient rainfall and temperatures ranging from –16°C in winter to 40°C during summer. The city, famous for its beautiful parks and gardens, has earned the name of ‘Yeşil Bursa’, meaning ‘green Bursa’.
Bursa is the fourth largest city in Turkey with nearly two million inhabitants. The fertile soil supports a wide variety of crops like fruits, vegetables, sunflowers and grain. However, with rapid industrialization, agricultural activities are on the decline. This city is the automobile centre of Turkey and is also renowned for its silk.
