Turkey has a variety of dishes; the most famous being Döner Kebap (meat cut off from a big rotating spit), Siskebab (skewered mutton or beef), Börek (hot pastries with fillings) and the more local Kalamari (fried squid).
Among drinks, traditional ones include the piping hot Sahlep (made from milk, orchid root, sugar and decorated with cinnamon), Köpüklü Ayran (water and yoghurt usually served without sugar) and the well known international export Turkish coffee.
