Constructed between 1861- 1865 by Sultan Abdulaziz, the Beylerbeyi palace situated on the Asian side of Istanbul is a popular tourist magnet. Built in a lavish neoclassic style, the palace was used for the summer dwelling of the kings as well as housing the foreign heads of state who visited the Ottoman capital. The current structure has six staterooms and twenty six smaller rooms.
