| Attractions and things to do |
Established in 1951, the Peak District National Park is a popular tourist attraction in United Kingdom. The best way to get started with the tour is to make a short visit to one of the visitor centres and get acquainted with the region.
Adventure lovers can choose from rock climbing, caving, cycling, hiking, hand gliding and paragliding. A thirteenth-century bridge built over the River Wye in Bakewell is worth visiting. Castleton is famous for its picturesque natural beauty as well as for its production of Blue John, a semi-precious mineral. There are several stone formations at the park with interesting names, the most popular one being the Shivering Mountain, that are worth visiting. A walk up o the Alport Castles, formed due to a landslide, is also recommended. |
