North York Moors National Park was established in 1952. The landscape of this national park is dominated by moor lands, mountains, coasts, limestone belts and rocks from the Jurassic Age.
There are several attractions at the park making it a great holiday destination. The scenic beauty of the park is simply stunning which makes it a haven for nature lovers. Two major rivers, Esk and Derwent, also pass through the park adding to its importance as a tourist attraction. The North Yorkshire Moors Railways, a heritage railway, is the longest of its kind in United Kingdom. The line passes through a beautiful landscape and it is worth a ride. Similarly, the remains of the Helmsley Castle, a medieval castle built in the twelfth century, attracts a lot of tourist attention. |
