Ashbourne lies in Derbyshire Dales in England and is a charming town with a population of more than seven thousand people.
The town was granted the Fairtrade town status in 2005 after a number of cafes, shops, community organizations and businesses started supporting Fairtrade.
It is a popular place among tourists for the natural beauty of the gentle hills on the south of the county to the ruggedness of the peak district in the north. However the soil is poor and the climate is harsh with cold and severe winters and heavy rain.
In summers, as well, cold and thick fogs can be experienced. Cheese fairs are held commonly in the town from time to time where the popular Derbyshire variety of cheese is sold and displayed.
The town is also known for its annual two day football match called Royal Shrovetide which is played by one part of the town against the other half.
