Pavilion Gardens is a botanical garden in Buxton which encompasses the octagonal concert hall built in 1875 and the opera house built in 1905 where regular music performances or concerts are held.
There is also a Victorian conservatory with a gondola lake, tropical plants, a miniature railroad and a café. Chestnut Centre Conservation Park has a huge collection of otters and barn owls, which is said to be the largest in Europe.
The Buxton Festival is a popular 3 week annual festival which is held every year from July to August and includes a variety of programs including jazz performances, concerts, recitals, plays, cabarets and more.
The venues used for the festival include the Edwardian Opera House, the Pavilion gardens and the Octagon Hall.
Buxton lies at the edge of the Peak district National Park which was the first National Park to be created in UK. For those who love to shop there is a wide choice of shops at High Street, Cavendish Arcade and the Spring Gardens Shopping Centres.
