Castle - Attractions in Norwich

Norwich Castle and Cathedral are historical monuments in the city of Norwich. Both these sites exhibit the rich culture and heritage of Norwich.

Norwich Cathedral is built in a Norman architectural style. The church was built in the late 11th century.

For more than 900 years, the church has witnessed the glorious development of Norwich city. For the first 450 years, the cathedral served as a part of the Benedictine monastery.

Various monks, pilgrims, worshippers, scholars and travellers have visited this cathedral over the past 900 years.

There are more than 1,000 vault bosses inserted in the cathedral construction.

Norwich Castle was also built in the same era as the cathedral. William the Conqueror built this castle in 1067, which served as a fortification.

The majestic castle was used as a prison during the 14th century.

Later, the castle was converted into an excellent museum in the year 1894.

 Currently, visitors come to see the extraordinary construction of the castle and the museum inside it.
