The British Airways London Eye was the idea of architects David Marks and Julia Barfield. This design came from many different influences like the Eiffel Tower, which was constructed in 1889 and the Ferris wheel built in 1893. The London Eye was chosen as the project for marking the Millennium. It got chosen for its interactivity and for relevance to the theme of the new Millennium.
