Harrogate is a famous ‘spa town’ in North Yorkshire. The town was established in the 17th century.
Since then it has been divided into two parts, Low Harrogate and High Harrogate. The densely populated town mostly has rich inhabitants due to its economical growth.
The current population in the city is 85,612. The city is blessed with natural sulphur and iron rich water springs. This water is rich in minerals which have medicinal properties.
The characteristics of this water are similar to that of the Belgium Town named Spa. So, Harrogate also received the name of a Spa Town. The first spring was discovered in the year 1571.
The Victorian town has still maintained its beauty and grace over the years. Harrogate is packed with elegant buildings and exhibition centres. The city is the largest conference and exhibition centre in Europe.
Harrogate, therefore hosts various types of shows every year. The winters are chilly and windy, while the summers are cool in this region.
