Helston is a civil parish situated in the Kerrier district in Cornwall, England, UK. It is located on the northern side of the Lizard Peninsula on the banks of the River Cober.
The city used to have an inland port. However the inland port was removed when the sand bar blocked the sea away. This sand bar made the largest natural lake of fresh water in Cornwall. This fresh water lake is called as Loe Pool.
Despite of the closure of the port, the economy of the city still flourished. The city’s economical sources are coining, tin mining and the cattle market. Due to the closeness of the sea from all sides, the winters are milder in Helston.
The pleasant weather of Helston is accompanied by picturesque beaches and a number of attractive places. Hence, a large number of tourists visit this place throughout the year.
