Monkwearmouth Station Museum
One can pay a visit to this gorgeous ‘Victorian Station’ for having experienced sense of ‘rail travel’ of previous times. Ticket office can be explored. It would remind one of the past. The visitors can also stand on platform where ‘evacuees’ began their journey from Sunderland during the Second World War. Goods wagon and guard’s van can be discovered in railway sidings.
It needs to be noted that children’s gallery has been aimed at those under the age of 5. It contains a wide spectrum of toys, dressing-up clothes, and books to carry on with imaginative plays.
Timings
This museum remains open from Mondays to Saturdays between 1000 and 1700; and on Sundays between 1400 and 1700 hrs.
