Chorley can be referred to as one of the market towns located in Lancashire, North West England.

Chorley’s wealth came principally from cotton industry. Till 1970s, skyline had been dominated by several factory chimneys. However, most of them have been demolished now. Remnants relating to industrial past are inclusive of Morrison’s chimney; along with some other ‘mill buildings’ and streets of various terraced houses especially for ‘mill workers’. This place has been known as home of Chorley cake.

Chorley stands at foot of ‘West Pennine Moors’. It’s a seat for ‘Borough of Chorley’ that is inclusive of Chorley; along with neighboring hamlets. This place goes on to have formed a ‘conurbation’ with Leyland and Preston. It was one of the designated parts of Central Lancashire New Town.

Chorley houses Chorley F.C; a semi-professional team of football. The players are also called ‘Magpies’ owing to their white and black strip.

As per 2001 census, population of Chorley was 101991.
